M&S to Close Keighley Store
Marks & Spencer has confirmed that 33 jobs are at risk at its Keighley store as the retailer starts a "five-year turnaround plan".
The chain says the proposed closure of eight stores including the one in Keighley is "part of M&S’ programme to modernise its UK store estate to better meet the changing needs of customers".
It follows a disappointing Christmas period for M&S, when sales of both food and clothing fell.M&S say they will try to move staff to other stores but "accept" they will have to make some redundancies.
Andrew Crooks head of M&S in Yorkshire, said: “Proposing to close the Keighley store has been a difficult but necessary decision. We’ll update customers and the community as soon as we can.”
