Schoolgirl's Logo is Victorious
A schoolgirl’s design has been adopted as the logo to keep kids safe from Child Sexual Exploitation.
Tiannie Jessop, a Year Five pupil at Our lady of Victories Catholic Primary School, met the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun Abid Hussain and worked with a professional designer from the Council to finalise the logo.
Tiannie’s creation was chosen by the designer from the council, from around 40 entries submitted by children from Our Lady of Victories, Merlin Top and Laycock Primary Schools. Her design was deemed the simplest and cleanest.
The designer also liked the idea of using a triangle for the logo which is already associated with road warning signs.
The Children’s Year of Safety project in Keighley aims to raise awareness of safeguarding and Child Sexual Exploitation, highlight the roles of everyone in keeping children safe and to give people the confidence to take action and make a call if they have a concern over the welfare of a child.
The logo will be used on banners, posters and leaflets throughout the year to promote the project. The Children’s Year of Safety is a project supported by Bradford Council, Our Lady of Victories Primary School, Merlin Top Primary School, Laycock Primary School, Rainbow Children’s Centre, Incommunities, The Good Shepherd Centre, Keith Thompson Centre, Braithwaite New Church, Keighley Healthy Living, Youth Service and West Yorkshire Police. Coun Adrian Farley is involved in setting up the project, said: “I think Tiannie’s design is great. This project is really important in giving people the confidence to take action and make the call if they have concerns.”
